Stones, Storms, and Stories — The Art of Peterson, Boland, and Barth

Innovative approaches to traditional mediums side-by-side with radical new forms and substances. Three local artists take viewers on new paths with exquisite textures and unexpected twists and turns.

Cleo Peterson has been gathering her unique art expertise living and painting in Asia, the United States, Barcelona, and everywhere in between. She has mastered the rare medium of cold wax and oil to create artwork that is vibrant, energizing, and takes the viewer into intoxicating new worlds.

Helen Boland is an En Plein Air artist whose creations are fresh, serene, and beguiling. Exploring eastern Washington with her watercolors, Helen paints in the present environment she is capturing — including the unexpected visits of weather and wildlife.

Lorna Barth experiments with un-ceremonially common substances like sourdough and OSB plywood. She lets the medium lead the vision and finds that she must paint what the medium is demanding. Even watercolor paintings are relentless in their requirements and tend to do strange and unusual things in the frame.
