The Downtown Walla Walla Foundation is seeking a dedicated and energetic Assistant Farmers Market Manager to support the operation of the Downtown Walla Walla Farmers Market on Saturdays only during the 2025 season. This role works alongside the Farmers Market Director to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for vendors and customers alike. This is a seasonal, part-time position requiring availability exclusively on Saturdays.
Job Title: Assistant Farmers Market Manager
Reports To: Farmers Market Director
Term: Seasonal (May 3 – October 25, 2025) | Saturdays Only, 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Location: Walla Walla, Washington
Compensation: The hourly wage ranges from $16.66 to $23 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with market setup and teardown, including signage, tents, tables, and other equipment.
Support vendors during check-in, setup, and throughout the market day.
Ensure market rules and regulations are followed to maintain a safe and fair marketplace.
Provide friendly customer service, answer questions, and help create an inviting atmosphere.
Assist in basic financial transactions, such as collecting vendor fees.
Maintain a clean and organized market space.
Work collaboratively with the Farmers Market Director and volunteers.
Perform other market-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum age of 18 required.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with vendors and customers.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
Reliable and punctual with a commitment to working every Saturday of the market season.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment
This is an outdoor role, requiring work in all weather conditions, including sun, heat, wind, rain, and cold. The market environment is lively and requires adaptability.
